Becoming A PLR Vendor – 5 Critical Pain Points That Will Determine Success Or Failure

If you’re pursuing a career as an online marketer then you’ve most likely heard the term ‘PLR’ from everyone and their grand mother.

Private Label Rights content has been elevated to a virtual pedestal and it’s being sold as the magic cure for all your marketing woes – from enabling you to stuff your blog with fantastic content, to give you the rights to ‘slap your name’ on a product and sell it as your own within minutes, or even the ease of becoming a PLR vendor yourself.

Whilst PLR can be highly beneficial if used correctly and may live up to all of the hype, the market is also flooded with subpar PLR material.

There are 2 reasons for this:

1. Because of the low entry barriers anyone can become a PLR Vendor
2. The vast majority of marketers step into the PLR market just for the money.

These marketers don’t care about quality since the industry is filled with naïve beginners who don’t know any better and buy their stuff no matter what.

But this blog post is not about repurposing PLR, the quality standards of the vendors or the people who purchase PLR content. This post is all about you and your intentions to become a PLR vendor.

It’s about you and your willingness to produce PLR that is devoured by an audience eager for engaging content…and who will gladly pay for it. And if you’re good at what you do, they will.

Above all, it’s about you becoming a PLR seller whose brand is synonymous with excellence – rather than surviving in the pool of mediocrity where the ignorant hordes of sub-standard PLR sellers gather. Or something like that. You get the point…

And it all starts with you asking yourself the 5 questions below…

1.Do you know what quality looks like?

Most newcomers enter the PLR industry expecting to make big bucks. Understandable… and entirely acceptable if you’re doing it for money. Passion is often overrated. That being said, even if you’re in it for the money, you must still deliver quality.

A lot of naive PLR vendors crank out substandard and awful cookie cutter content. Their reckless efforts to profit as much as possible in as little time as possible derails their long-term success.

While they may start off strong, eventually buyers will avoid them, and they never gain momentum due to a lack of returning customers.

One must fully grasp what high quality content looks and reads like. This business model requires some expertise.

A common problem that many PLR sellers face is that they outsource their content to third-rate writers in order to reduce costs and increase profit margins.

Most of the time, these inexperienced writers are glad they got the job and quickly throw together a bunch of random phrases, believing they’ve published the next War and Peace.

Or even worse, they just plagiarize and rip off content from other sites and deliver it as their own work.

The ignorant PLR vendor who has no idea what good material looks like believes that his writer has produced Pulitzer-prize worthy content.

Thus he puts the PLR on the market and then wonders why no one buys from him after a while. You have to be smarter than that.

Which brings us to the next question…

2.Will you hire a ghost writer or do you write the content yourself?

If you have outstanding writing skills, that’s excellent news because in that case this business model has your name all over it. However, don’t misjudge your capabilities.

Although everyone can write, not all of us can write well. To be successful in this industry, you must not only write well, but also write quickly. Speed is also crucial.

If it takes you 3 days to write just one article, you’re better off hiring someone else.

If you don’t like doing research, if you hate to write about things that bore you… if you… you get the point. Hire someone else to write for you.

You’ll need enough money to recruit a qualified writer if you’re hiring one – and in general, you can expect to spend more for a writer who understands what they’re doing. .

You (and your wallet) will take a hit, but you may ease that sorrow by understanding that you are not paying for content. You’re paying to establish yourself as a skilled PLR vendor!

In the eyes of your consumers, your work will define your worth. See, don’t you feel better already?

Because you’ll be investing on content creation, your marketing must be on point. That is the only way you will be able to cover your costs and make a decent profit. So be aware of that too.

3.Will you go niche specific or go broad?

Some PLR vendors only produce material for a specific niche. Self-help, health, and online marketing are just a few examples. They specialize on one niche and delve deeply into it.

Then there are other PLR vendors who will tackle any niche, if it seems profitable. There are pros and cons to both approaches.

Customers will be more targeted if you just sell PLR in one topic. With time, you’ll know all the ins and outs of that market and be able to develop content that your clients crave for.

This will lead to more conversions and sales. Also, it is far easier to write about the same subjects again and again, rather than constantly exploring new niches.

If you go wide, you’ll have more flexibility and you will be able to capitalize on new trends and develop content for them. You’ll be catering to the demand in many niches and you might see a surge in sales. It takes more time and effort, but your eggs are not all in one basket.

Which way you go is up to you. Both are profitable, if done right.

4.How good is your networking?

If you’re just getting started, recruiting affiliates is the best approach to boost your sales, but your social skills will need to be relatively good here.

Get to know and become friends with other PLR vendors. Find them on social media and engage with them ahead of time. Plant your seeds before bringing your needs.

Many beginners and even more experienced marketers have extremely low EQ levels. They disappear for months and then suddenly reemerge when they have an upcoming launch. They become overly friendly and try to get other marketers to promote them.

This selfish mentality is so obvious and is a turn-off for most other marketers. You will mostly be ignored or rejected.

One hand washes the other… and in the beginning, if you have nothing to offer, just offer your support (by buying from them) or your friendship.

5.Do you have a marketing plan?

Before you become a PLR vendor, you should determine what skills you’ll need, what tools you’ll need, and how you want to establish your business.

It makes no difference if you’re producing written content, images, videos, or anything else. To do a good job, you need skills… which implies working on yourself.

You must also learn how to design a sales page, write sales copy, build a sales funnel, add buyers to a list, email market to them, and so on. This industry has a lot of moving parts.

You’ll have to study them all… slowly but steadily.

You should also do a few PLR launches to build momentum and grow your buyers list. Once you’ve gained enough traction, you may consider creating a PLR store to generate passive sales. Then it’s only a matter of scaling up traffic to increase your profits.

Rinse. Lather. Repeat. That’s all there is to it.

To conclude, if you have the knowledge and discipline to consistently create high-quality content, you will build a loyal fan base who love your PLR and will gladly refer you to others.

It’s inevitable for your business to grow and flourish that you’re willing to keep learning, and take things seriously. After all, this is a business and not a hobby. Success begets success and you’ll become a popular and profitable PLR seller in time to come.

If you’re reading this then you’re probably one of many marketers who’ve tried but failed miserably to make money with PLR products. You’ve bought a PLR product and did exactly what the sales page told you to do. Am I right?

Well guess what, you’re not going to make a single cent by just slapping your name on a sales page and adding your own Paypal button because you’re NOT the only one who owns a copy of that PLR you just bought.

The key to make money with PLR products is by either completely rebrand them, re-purpose them in another format or just think a little bit outside the box.

In this post I’ll show you 5 methods that fall into the “outside the box” category. These methods are not new or my invention but things that have been proven to work for years.

They do require some work but they are not difficult to do. Anyone who is prepared to put some time and effort into this will be able to pull this off.

Method 1 – The Affiliate Method

Right then, the first method will be the easiest one as it literally involves no work at all. You simply become an affiliate for the PLR products that you’ve bought and share the content on your blog.

This method works extremely well with how to video tutorials. The first thing that you want to do is upload the videos onto YouTube or Vimeo but of course you keep them unlisted.

Then you’ll need to write a small intro for your blog post and you just embed the entire video course onto your blog post.

Underneath the videos you must create a call to action to inform people that they can get PLR rights to this course and that they could use the course on their own blogs or just simply rebrand and resell it.

You re-direct people to the sales page of the vendor and when people buy the product you make a commission

One of the marketers who uses this method all the time is PLR seller Arun Chandran. You can visit one of his blog posts over here and see how he structures his posts to get the best results.

Method 2 – The Article Method

For the second method we’ll stick with Arun. When you visit his PLR Reseller Store you’ll see that he mainly sells article packs. These packs usually contain 5 to 10 articles and they sell for in between $10 and $17.

Now you could just buy the articles from Arun’s shop and create a new box and sell them as your own.

Another way would be to create your own articles. For example, if you have an e-book with PLR rights you could easily split that up into 5 to 10 articles. The best way would be to rewrite it to make it unique to you. Then create a box for your new articles and you have a product to sell.

You could create a great up-sell by turning the articles into a video using tools like Pictory or Wave video.

Method 3 – The Checklist Method

This method involves turning e-books or video courses into checklists. A good example of someone who took this method to another level is Kevin Fahey. He literally turned his IM Checklist brand into a million dollar empire.

The cool thing about this method is that it’s not very difficult to do because a checklist is basically a collection of the essential points from your e-book or your video course. You just need to go through your courses and write down all the important factors.

Once you’ve done that it’s just a matter of creating a simple Word Document and structure your bullet points in a logical order. After that, you just need to create a nice mock-up for your checklist and you’ll have a product to sell.

You could also take a shortcut and just buy some of Kevin’s checklists and rebrand them and sell them as your own.

Which brings us to…

Method 4 – The DFY Blog Method

This one is a little bit more technical but it’s a very effective way to re-purpose and sell PLR.

This method involves selling done for you niche blogs. The easiest way to start with this method will require a small investment.

Let me give you an example. Let’s assume that you’ve bought a PLR ebook or article pack about affiliate marketing. What you want to do next is go to a site called Pre-Made Niches and buy yourself a done for you PLR blog for $17.

Once you’ve installed the blog onto your own server you can replace the existing content with your own PLR articles or content from your e-book. After that you can sell it as a blog with content either from your own store or you can flip it at sites like Flippa.com.

You could also keep the blog for yourself and monetize it with affiliate offers.

Method 5 – The Easy Rebranding Method

The last method is to simply rebrand your courses and sell them as your own. Now most people get stuck on this because it usually involves html editors, FTP clients and other technical stuff.

But there is a shortcut now. A couple of days ago Chris Derenberger released a product called PLR Wealth where he gives you a fully customizable WordPress sales funnel to sell your own products.

You get all the legal pages, a home page, an opt-in page, a thank you page, an upsell page and last but not least a members area.

It’s very simple to customize these pages for every new product that you want to sell. You just need to duplicate the original funnel, rename it and change some basic elements for your new product.

I actually bought the product myself after I’ve got review access because I saw in the training how much of a time saver this was going to be. As it goes I’ve already started setting up a product and my pages are nearly finished in less than an hour of work.
